Three NCC Students Elected as State Skills USA-VICA Officers
Three Northwest Iowa Community College students were elected to be state officers for IowaÕs Skills USA organization. NCC has one of the largest active Skills USA chapter in the state.
Pat Messmore Ð Sheldon, enrolled in the Truck & Diesel program
Tom Braddy Ð Kingsley, IA, enrolled in the Industrial & Commercial Wiring program
Josh Zachmeyer Ð Salem, IA, enrolled in the Industrial Instrumentation & Control program
As part of their
duties as officers of the Iowa organization, Messmore, Braddy and Zachmeyer
attended the Fall Leadership Conference in Boone, IA. Students spent the
weekend setting goals and action plans for the current year.
SkillsUSA is a national organization serving 250,000 high school and college students and professional members in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations, including health occupations. SkillsUSA has the active support of more than 1,000 corporations, trade associations, business and labor unions at the national level. Student membership in SkillsUSA offers leadership, citizenship and character development programs and activities to complement skill training. Its programs help students prepare to go to work. SkillsUSA emphasizes respect for the dignity of work, high standards in trade ethics, workmanship, scholarship and safety. It promotes understanding of the free enterprise system and encourages the development of patriotism through democratic practices in local chapters.
