Skills USA Officers Elected at NCC
Northwest Iowa Community CollegeŐs Skills USA organization recently elected its officer team. NCC has one of the largest active Skills USA chapters in the state.
Melorie Vonk was named the President. She is from Maurice, IA and is enrolled in the Computerized Manufacturing Technology program.
Manufacturing Engineering Technology student Nathan VanZweden was named Vice President of the chapter. He is from Sioux Center, IA.
Nicole Strouth, NCC Practical Nursing student from Ashton, IA will be the chapter Secretary.
Sharon Mertz, Ottosen, IA is the Treasurer. She is enrolled in the Practical Nursing program.
The organizationŐs Parliamentarian will be Heidi Wendt, Hartley, IA. Wendt is a student in the Industrial & Commercial Wiring program.
Mike Bassett was elected Reporter. Bassett is from Ames, IA, and is an Industrial & Commercial Wiring student.
Automotive Service Technology student Dan Smith was named Historian of the chapter. Smith is from Fonda, IA.
Skills USA is a national organization serving 250,000 high school and college students and professional members in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations, including health occupations. Skills USA has the active support of more than 1,000 corporations, trade associations, business, and labor unions at the national level. Student membership in Skills USA offers leadership, citizenship, and character development programs and activities to complement skill training. Its programs help students prepare to go to work. Skills USA emphasizes respect for the dignity of work, high standards in trade ethics, workmanship, scholarship, and safety. It promotes understanding of the free enterprise system and encourages the development of patriotism through democratic practices in local chapters.
